Diogo Dalot wears Cristiano Ronaldo's number 7 in Manchester United training

Diogo Dalot has been pictured wearing Cristiano Ronaldo‘s number 7 during training in Perth.

Ronaldo is absent from Manchester United’s tour,  officially for ‘family reasons’.

Dalot was pictured wearing a tracksuit top with the number 7 above the Adidas logo as United trained in front of supporters at the WACA stadium.

This will serve to ask further questions over Ronaldo’s future, with BBC Sport reporting last season’s top goalscorer is keen to quit the club.

There has been no change in Ronaldo’s status for around three weeks now. Amid speculation agent Jorge Mendes is touting him around to other clubs, via The Mail there has so far been no takers.

Dalot wears Cristiano Ronaldo’s number 7

Dalot is unlikely to be a permanent successor to Ronaldo with the number 7 shirt. While Manchester City have just handed full-back Joao Cancelo their 7 shirt, United are more likely to give the shirt to another attacking player.

Ronaldo and Dalot are close pals, and the right-back may simply have asked to wear the number as a tribute to his teammate.

If there was a United player Ronaldo would not mind temporarily wearing his number, then Dalot is probably the player he would choose.

Wearing this number is new for Dalot. In previous training sessions on tour like in the picture below in Melbourne, he has worn a tracksuit with his normal number 20 squad number featured.
