Obviously Manchester United signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not ideal for Diogo Dalot.

But reports which came out over the weekend claiming Dalot will be sold just look silly.

Firstly, the reports credited by papers including The Mail and The Sun do not exist.

They reference an Evening Standard report, which contains no mention of Dalot.

Their report has obviously been changed due to being inaccurate. It now reads Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo have been told they can leave.

Darmian, Dalot… easy mistake perhaps. But there’s no excuse for the way other papers have just run with it unchecked.

Anyway, he is not letting it bother him.

Diogo Dalot is showing he is fully focused on United and the season ahead.

Dalot can complement Wan-Bissaka and the pair can battle it out for the right-back spot.

Good competition is healthy for the rest of the team.

Having just signed Dalot for £19 million last summer, there is no reason to sell after a promising first season.

He can play at left-back or on the wing too, and could become a valuable player for United. Dalot is only just getting started.
