It’s been a rough start to the new Premier League and Champions League season for Manchester United.
With 0 points from a possible 6 in Europe and the club currently languishing in 10th in the Premier League, the pressure is increasing on Erik ten Hag after a positive first season.
However, despite the negativity around the club, Diogo Dalot, who has been one of the shining lights in the Manchester United squad this season, has singled out the influence of one player in particular as being ‘remarkable’.
Speaking to A Bola, a Portuguese outlet, Dalot picked out United’s captain Bruno Fernandes for praise.

Dalot on Fernandes
Speaking to the Portuguese outlet, Dalot said: “I think Bruno’s ability and influence on a team like ours is remarkable, not just because of his footballing qualities, which are unanimous, but also because of what he gives the team off the pitch, the leadership he has, the energy he gives.
“Having players like that is always an advantage for us, and a positive experience for every player who has the ability to play with him.”
The Portuguese midfielder was handed the United captaincy after Ten Hag decided that Harry Maguire was to be stripped of the captaincy, paving the way for the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder to take the reins.
Fernandes as captain
The midfielder, at times, can be a source of frustration for United fans due to his petulance on the pitch or his erratic decisions in crucial moments of games but the Portuguese has been consistent for the Red Devils over the last three years.
Fernandes, however, has struggled in the Champions League so far this season and was once again very frustrating during the game as he seemingly tried too hard and was forcing things in the middle of the pitch.
If Dalot is to be believed then the midfielder is seemingly making a big impact as United captain which can only be a positive.
The Portuguese maestro will have a chance to right these wrongs when United take on Brentford this Saturday and a win is needed, at all costs.
