Diogo Dalot pictured back at Carrington early ahead of Manchester United's weekend clash against Leicester

Diogo Dalot wasted no time at all returning to Carrington and rejoining Manchester United first team training on Wednesday.

Dalot did not play for Portugal in their win over North Macedonia on Tuesday night, and so unlike Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo, required no recovery time to get back out on the pitches.

Dalot had started the play-off semi-final last week, stepping in for suspended Joao Cancelo, who re-took his place for the final.

Portugal progressed, beating North Macedonia 2-0 thanks to two goals from Bruno Fernandes, with Cristiano Ronaldo providing an assist.

Dalot rejoined his United teammates as they stepped up preparations ahead of this Saturday’s game at Old Trafford at home to Leicester City.

Fellow right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was also present in the training session, seen below battling midfielder Nemanja Matic.

A handful of young players were involved too, with winger Noam Emeran (left) seen in the picture below.

Big money summer signing Jadon Sancho was involved, having surprisingly been left out of the England squad.

This works out as United’s gain, as Sancho has had the past week to train at Carrington ahead of the league resuming.

United have not played a game since March 15, with the last league match days before that, a 3-2 win over Tottenham.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in that win, and he is expected to return to training along with Fernandes today (Thursday).

Midfielder Matic has been a constant at training over the last fortnight, pictured below with Phil Jones, who this week expressed his desire to get more involved before the season ends.

Matic has a better chance to start, at least this weekend, with Fred taking a long haul flight back from South America.
