Diogo Dalot has an ambitious target for next season with Manchester United, and it is something that fans will agree with.
There are almost three months until the 2026/27 Premier League season begins, yet already, Manchester United’s hopes are growing for a successful campaign.
United believe that the league is more winnable than it has been for a long time, and therefore, a strong summer could see Michael Carrick spearheading Project 150 – only a year sooner than expected.
A push for the Premier League next season feels like a good target for the club, given the trajectory in the past six months. Now, Diogo Dalot has outlined this ambitious goal.

What is your verdict on Diogo Dalot’s 2025/26 season?
Diogo Dalot says he loves that Manchester United have to aim for titles next season
Speaking with Brazilian channel Caze TV, Dalot has now revealed what he thinks about next season and suggested there is no reason United can’t be targeting the league.
“At the start of every season, United fans always believe we’re going to win the Premier League and the Champions League, and that’s what I love most about this club. It doesn’t matter what happened last season. Last year we finished 15th in the Premier League, and a year later we finished third.
“There’s no guarantee that next year we won’t win the Premier League or the Champions League. In August, on the day the league starts and for the first game at Old Trafford, I’m sure the 70,000 fans there will believe once again that we can win the Premier League.
“Now, I’ve also been here long enough to realise that you need emotional balance, given the rollercoaster ride that often happens here throughout the season.
“We, the players and coaching staff, have to be the most level-headed in managing these emotions, but without ever losing the ambition to win, because that’s what the club lives on.”
How much do you think Man Utd will spend in this window?
It can be revealed that £243m will already be leaving Old Trafford this summer…
Manchester United need to win silverware in 2026/27
Dalot is a leader for United, and his ambition surely spreads to the rest of the team.
But even if Premier League and Champions League chases are a little ambitious, United need to be looking for silverware next season.
Challenging for either the Premier League or Champions League would be a success for United next season, given how far off it the club has been for 13 years, but alongside these, Carrick should have eyes on silverware.
Come next summer, it will be three years since United even won a trophy, and therefore, this needs to be the goal for Carrick: to win a trophy no matter what.
The two aforementioned big ones would be perfect, but United should also be looking to go all the way in the domestic cups, as winning a trophy and challenging for the league would be enough to constitute a success in Carrick’s first season; anything else is a bonus.
United need to be winning trophies, and big gaps can’t be accepted. Dalot knows this, so hopefully the club can make it right next season.
