Antony‘s performance against Reading saw the forward come in for praise from his injured Manchester United teammate Diogo Dalot.

The Red Devils advanced to the FA Cup fifth-round after beating Paul Ince’s Royals 3-1 win at Old Trafford last night.

United’s number 21 registered his first assist for the club since sealing his big-money summer move from Ajax against the Championship side.

In the 54th minute, the 22-year-old played a perfectly weighted pass into the path of his Brazilian compatriot Casemiro who dinked the ball over the onrushing Joe Lumley to break the deadlock for Erik ten Hag’s side.

The 15-time Brazil international finished the cup tie against Ince’s men with eight shots on goal and created four chances.

No player from either side registered more shots or as many key passes, as per WhoScored.

None of Antony’s eight attempts hit the target, but it was a good night’s work for the Brazilian.

His eye-catching display didn’t go unnoticed by United’s number 20 Dalot.

The former Porto youngster commented on Antony’s Instagram post having been awarded the player-of-the-match award: “You are a beast”.

Antony’s performance also received praise from Ten Hag, and the former Ajax boss felt the dazzling forward had continued to show exciting progress.

Speaking via the club’s website, the 52-year-old said: “I have some longer experience with him [with Ajax] and we have to challenge him, and if you challenge him, he can adapt, he can adjust his game, and that is what we have to do, definitely.

“He has to be more variable, more dynamic. But also, he needs his team-mates around him, but also how to use your team-mates.

“He has to work on that and he’s investing in this moment in it and you see the progress. But still, I think there is still a lot of room for improvement there.”
