Denmark boss shares verdict on Rasmus Hojlund’s Manchester United displays

Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand has been seriously impressed with Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund this season.

Rasmus Hojlund faces an emotional evening as Manchester United take on Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Hojlund not only hails from Copenhagen but also came up in the club’s youth ranks after a spell with Brondby.

Copenhagen let Hojlund leave for Sturm Graz in 2022 – and you have to wonder if they now regret that decision.

Hojlund is still finding his feet in the Premier League and is yet to find the net, but has scored three times in the Champions League.

Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand has now offered his view on Hojlund’s start to life at United – and he is seemingly very impressed.

Hjulmand has told Bold that he thinks Hojlund has been ‘absolutely fantastic’ in a United shirt.

Hjulmand accepts that United aren’t exactly playing well, but Hojlund is putting in so much effort and leaving his mark on games despite few goalscoring chances.

Euro 2024 is on the horizon and Hjulmand is seemingly delighted with the progress Hojlund is making ahead of that tournament.

“United are looking for a game that is coherent and that makes them produce more chances,” said Hjulmand. “They have won many of their victories by toiling and fighting the games home. But Rasmus has been absolutely fantastic in their matches.”

“The good thing about Rasmus is that he always leaves behind an effort. You can always see that he has been on the field,” he added.

Hjulmand may be loving what he is seeing from Hojlund but that doesn’t mean he is on United’s side tonight.

The Denmark boss suggested that he wants to see a 4-3 Copenhagen win tonight, which would be a huge victory for Danish football.

In Hjulmand’s ideal world, United lose but goals are scored by Danish stars Hojlund and Christian Eriksen, giving him the best of both worlds.

Hojlund may be a former Copenhagen man but he will be desperately trying to take them down tonight – and add to his Champions League goal tally.
