Dean Holden couldn’t help but admire Casemiro‘s pass during Manchester United’s second goal in last night’s Carabao Cup quarter-final clash.

Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils beat League One side Charlton Athletic 3-0 at Old Trafford to advance to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

With the twenty-time league champions leading Holden’s Addicks on the hour mark, Ten Hag decided to call on the cavalry to ensure his side secured progress to the last-four.

Alongside Casemiro, the former Ajax manager introduced Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford in a triple change with 30 minutes remaining.

Dean Holden comments on Casemiro’s role in Manchester United’s second goal against Charlton Athletic

In the 90th minute, Casemiro sprayed a pass out to debutant Facundo Pellistri who set up Rashford to ensure United put the tie beyond doubt and that United’s in-form number ten scored in his eighth consecutive home game.

The five-time Champions League winner’s inch perfect pass ensured the pacey Uruguayan didn’t have to break stride, and it was fizzed into the winger in a similar manner to how Manchester United legend Paul Scholes pinged his passes around.

United’s number 18 did register an assist in the clash against the Londoners as his outside of the boot pass played in Rashford, and the England international scored his second of the evening and his 15th goal of the campaign.

Holden was full of praise for the Real Madrid man following his side’s valiant defeat at the Theatre of Dreams.

Holden told BBC Sport: “You can only stand in admiration for Casemiro’s pass for the second goal and Rashford does what Rashford does at the end.”

The Manchester United supporter added via Charlton’s website: “Casemiro’s pass and his turnover of the ball is what this level is all about.”

The 69-time Brazil international has two goals and three assists from 24 appearances for the Busby Babes.
