David De Gea has poked fun at pundits – possibly even Roy Keane – with a message to Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes.
Bruno Fernandes was the hero on Saturday afternoon as he handed United a 1-0 win away at Fulham.
The Portuguese ace stepped up with an injury-time winner, snatching all three points in West London.
Erik ten Hag desperately needed that result and, whilst this wasn’t a vintage United display, it was just about enough for a win.
David De Gea sends message to Bruno Fernandes
This was a real moment of quality from Fernandes, taking two Fulham players out of the game before firing home.
That goal sparked wild scenes in the away end at Craven Cottage and prompted a message from former teammate David De Gea.
The Spaniard is close to Fernandes and the pair have recently been seen together despite De Gea leaving United in the summer.
It’s no surprise that De Gea is now offering his support to Fernandes after what has been a testing week for the United skipper.
De Gea offered a rather pointed comment on Instagram, replying to Fernandes’ celebrations by saying ‘You are not the right captain’.
De Gea also posted a zip-mouthed emoji, possibly poking fun at some pundit comments in the last few days…

Roy Keane has criticised Manchester United captain Fernandes
Some have suggested that Fernandes shouldn’t be the United captain – hence De Gea’s comment.
Roy Keane was leading the charge in that regard, telling Sky Sports last week that he would strip Fernandes of the captaincy.
Former United captain Keane suggested that Fernades was the complete opposite of what he would be seeking in a skipper.
Ten Hag is unlikely to take the captaincy away from Fernandes having only given it him in the summer, with De Gea now offering his support.
That won’t deter Keane moving forward but if De Gea has this kind of respect for Fernandes following their time together at Old Trafford, many current United players may feel the same way.
