David de Gea offers encouragement to on loan youngster Matej Kovar

Manchester United loanee Matej Kovar is enjoying a really strong run at Burton Albion since breaking into the team.

Kovar has started the last four games and has kept a clean sheet in all four of them.

These have included matches against teams in first and second place in League One.

Prior to Kovar coming into the team, Burton had conceded 63 goals in 40 games. They have since conceded 0 in 4.

Kovar’s performances are not going unnoticed. The Czech Republic under-21 international has received encouragement from Manchester United star David de Gea.

De Gea reached out on Kovar on Instagram to congratulate him on his run, which has seen him named in the EFL League One Team of the Week for two weeks in a row.

Two games left

There are two games left of the League One season for Kovar to try to stay unbeaten in the net.

The first of these is against United loanee Ethan Galbraith’s Doncaster Rovers, who are battling away in the relegation zone.

They have only scored 34 goals in 44 games, so Kovar may fancy his chances of a clean sheet.

The final match of Burton Albion’s season is against Wycombe Wanderers, who are in sixth place and pushing for the play-offs. But after shutting out Wigan and Rotherham, first and second in the league, Kovar will hold no fear.
