Rasmus Hojlund is waiting for his first Premier League goal and the Danish media are seemingly sympathetic to the Manchester United striker’s battle.

Hojlund spearheaded the United attack once again on Saturday afternoon, starting in the home clash with Crystal Palace.

The Dane did have an early first-half chance, latching onto Marcus Rashford’s ball in behind.

Hojlund nicked the ball away from Marc Guehi and lobbed the ball past Sam Johnstone, only for Tyrick Mitchell to make a big clearance.

Palace ended up bagging all three points as Hojlund’s Denmark teammate Joachim Andersen smashed home a superb winner.

It all could have been different had that Hojlund chance gone in, with United left to think of those ifs, buts and maybes after another defeat.

Hojlund is always in the news over in Denmark having completed his big move to United over the summer.

BT in Denmark have been covering Hojlund’s performance against Palace as his wait for a Premier League goal goes on.

They suggest that Hojlund is going through a ‘severe trial’ for United because Erik ten Hag’s side are ‘devoid of self-confidence’.

The Danish press seemed happy with the amount ‘incredible’ amount of things Hojlund does right in the final third, praising his all-round game.

However, they believe that there is ‘nothing more difficult’ than Hojlund’s role right now as the attempts to shine for a team that just isn’t firing on all cylinders.

“Rasmus Højlund is undergoing a severe trial in the United jersey right now, as the young striker plays for a team completely devoid of self-confidence. It is clear to see that Højlund does an incredible number of things right, is skilled on the ball, takes the right runs and positions himself well in the field.”

“However, there is nothing more difficult than shining as a front-striker for a team that never plays you in seventh heaven. Today, Højlund was at least outshined by a Joachim Andersen, who was decisive in both fields with a truly magnificent performance.”

Hojlund a rare bright spot for United

Hojlund is only scored once and you can be sure that rival fans will be pointing out a less-than-stellar goalscoring record in Italy.

The pressure on Hojlund is massive; United fans want. New goalscoring hero, his transfer fee was enormous and rival fans are hoping for his downfall.

So far, we have seen enough to suggest that Hojlund can be a real threat for United.

This has been a disappointing start to the new season, but Hojlund has been something of a bright spot.

Hojlund is quick and physical, as we saw with that early chance against Palace on Saturday.

The final touch hasn’t been there yet but we are seeing him get into the right positions and cause real problems; hopefully a run of goalscoring form is just around the corner.
