Former Manchester United man Daley Blind has been brought way back to earth by a former United transfer target.
The Dutch centre-half has embarked on a new footballing venture this season, deciding to take on the La Liga as he moved to Girona.
His time at the club so far couldn’t have gone much better. Before this weekend, Girona found themselves top of the league, with an unbeaten start. Blind was a huge factor in this, putting in some seriously sublime performances.
This weekend, however, Girona and Blind were brought back down to earth as they were handed their first defeat of the season by Spanish giants – but in particular one man.

Madrid humble Blind
Real Madrid ran out 3-0 winners against Blind’s new side, with former Manchester United transfer target Jude Bellingham being the star of the show.
The English midfielder, much like all season, was simply ‘unstoppable‘. He got a goal, an assist and the Man of the Match award – sending Real Madrid top in the process.
The result meant Girona actually dropped down to third, with Barcelona’s win propelling them into second.
Brilliant Bellingham
The England international was on top of his game.
He played the most delicious of trivela passes to get Madrid off the mark in the 17th minute, with Joselu pouncing onto his ball.
Madrid’s new star boy also got on the score sheet himself. He volleyed home after 71 minutes to put the Spanish side three goals to the good and, more importantly, top of the league.
What could have been…
If only Bellingham had chosen the red side of Manchester as his preferred destination in 2020. The then 16-year-old was given a tour of the Carrington training ground ahead of a possible summer move from Birmingham City.
Unfortunately, Bellingham chose Dortmund as his destination… and has now obviously ended up at Los Galacticos.
He’s a generational talent and United would have been seriously lucky to have him.
