Former Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna could land a Premier League move with Crystal Palace thought to be interested.
We often see coaches with United connections in the Football League.
Sometimes it’s former players like Mark Hughes and Mark Robins, sometimes it’s the likes of Michael Carrick and Neil Wood, who were with United as players before joining the coaching staff.
Few quite have the hype around them like Kieran McKenna though.
The 37-year-old joined the United coaching ranks in 2016, becoming Under-18 manager before moving up to become a first-team coach under Jose Mourinho.
McKenna decided to leave to become Ipswich Town boss in December 2021 and is really turning heads.
Ex-Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna could land Premier League job
The Sun report that McKenna is one name on the Crystal Palace radar as they seek to land a long-term successor to Roy Hodgson.
The 76-year-old continues to pick up results as Palace boss, including Saturday’s 1-0 victory over United.
Hodgson surely won’t be Palace manager heading into next season though and the Eagles have started looking at long-term successors.
McKenna is one option with Lille boss Paulo Fonseca also wanted at Selhurst Park.
Northern Irishman McKenna is ‘on the shortlist’, meaning he could end up managing against United in the near future.

McKenna may get to the Premier League before Palace make their move
If Palace are looking to make their move next summer, they may be too late.
McKenna guided Ipswich to promotion last season and is now looking to make it two promotions in a row.
The Tractor Boys now sit second in the Championship table, just two points behind league leaders Leicester City.
Seven wins from nine and just one defeat mean McKenna is becoming the hottest coaching property outside of the Premier League.
McKenna may yet take Ipswich into the Premier League, leaving Palace’s hopes in tatters – and teeing up a United face-off one way or another.
