Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked the Manchester United fans for sticking by the team during a “very difficult season”.
The 37-year-old posted his gratitude to the Manchester United supporters fresh after winning the club’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and goal of the season awards.
United’s number seven was named player of the year in his first season back at Old Trafford. In his first spell at the Theatre of Dreams, Ronaldo won the coveted award in three campaigns.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has now won the award for a record-equalling fourth time and moves level with David de Gea who is the only other United player to have won the award on four occasions.

After making the move back to United from Juventus last summer, which came 12 years after he departed us for Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions.
The Portuguese legend was out on his own at the top of United’s scoring charts with Ronaldo’s compatriot Bruno Fernandes the second top scorer with 10 goals to his name.
Ronaldo scored 18 goals in the Premier League, a tally that saw him finish third in the golden boot race behind only Mohammed Salah and Heung-Min Son.
Ronaldo, who is arguably the greatest clutch player of all time, produced a host of match-winning displays for the Reds this season.

He scored hat-tricks against Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City, and he scored a brace on his first appearance back at Old Trafford against Newcastle United.
As well as spearheading United’s domestic charge, Ronaldo dragged United through to the Champions League last-16 with six goals in the group stage.
His long-range strike against Spurs at Old Trafford which flew past Hugo Lloris saw him clinch the club’s goal of the season gong.

Fresh after scoring a brace for Portugal in a 4-0 Nations League win against Switzerland, which took his international goals tally to 117, Ronaldo showed his appreciation to the Manchester United fans.
After seeing a dreadful season which resulted in us amassing our lowest points in Premier League history, Manchester United fans will be hoping that with Erik ten Hag at the helm, and an ageless Cristiano Ronaldo still producing the goods – next season will bring a drastic upturn in performances.
