Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he could be destined to take the same path as one Manchester United legend once his legendary playing career ends.

Cristiano Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the best players of all time and he has had a prolific playing career at club level and on the international stage.

The 39-year-old Portuguese forward will turn 40 years old on Wednesday and is heading towards the tail end of his remarkable footballing career.

Despite his current age, Ronaldo has continued to play for Portugal after Euro 2024 last summer and is expected to represent his country at the 2026 World Cup.

The Manchester United legend has been with current side Al Nassr since 2023 after his dramatic exit from Old Trafford back in 2022.

However, Ronaldo’s club future remains uncertain and the Al Nassr captain is out of contract with the Saudi Pro League outfit in the summer.

Man Utd legend Ronaldo teases future plan

Cristiano Ronaldo has made 89 appearances for Al Nassr and the former Manchester United superstar has netted 81 times for the Saudi Arabia-based side.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has also found success away from the football pitch, including with his own clothing and fragrance brand.

Ronaldo has admitted that it is unlikely that he will pursue a career in coaching and said it would be “more complicated” than being a player.

However, the Real Madrid legend suggested he could follow in the footsteps of fellow legendary former United No 7 David Beckham by buying a club in the future.

Speaking to Spanish TV channel LaSexta, Ronaldo said: “I don’t think my personality is well suited to being a coach. Almost impossible.

“I have been in football all my life… and being a coach is more complicated than being a player.”

The Al Nassr skipper added: “Owning a club? That is something that makes more sense.

“It is not something I rule out, if there is a good business. I do not have a club in my head, football is very momentary.”

David Beckham did not pursue a career in management after ending his legendary career in 2013 and later became co-owner of MLS outfit Inter Miami.

The 49-year-old United legend has found success during his time as Inter Miami president, including bringing Barcelona legend Lionel Messi to the club.

Ronaldo breaks silence on future

Ronaldo has hinted that his future at club level is far from done, despite the Portugal captain admitting that he would have nothing to “regret” if he retired.

“I could quit the sport today and I wouldn’t regret anything, but it would be a shame because I’m still very good, I’m still making a difference,” he said.

“I would leave myself saying, ‘I can still make a difference for another year or two,’ that’s why I live very much in the present and I can’t think long term.”
