Cristiano Ronaldo and co pictured in United training ahead of Atletico clash
Manchester United have been pictured training at Carrington ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.
Following Anthony Elanga’s rescue act in the Spanish capital three weeks ago, the two-legged tie is finally poised at 1-1, ahead of the return leg at the Theatre of Dreams.
Ralf Rangnick’s side were lucky to come away from the clash at the Wanda Metropolitano with a draw as Diego Simeone’s were in the ascendency for the majority of the 90 minutes.
Roared on by the Theatre of Dreams crowd, Rangnick will be hoping for a much improved performance against the reigning La Liga champions this time around.
The Reds come into the clash in buoyant mood following the 3-2 win against Tottenham, on Saturday, which came thanks to an inspired Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 37-year-old scored his 59th career hat-trick to become FIFA’s all-time leading goalscorer with his 807th career goal.
However, the five-time Ballon d’Or like the rest of the United side was anonymous in the first leg, but United’s number seven will be champing at the bit to deliver the goods on the biggest stage once again.
Dubbed ‘Mr Champions League’, Ronaldo has scored 25 goals against Atletico Madrid, only Sevilla (27) have been on the receiving end of more goals from the Portuguese legend.
Arguably the GOAT at delivering when his side need it most, Ronaldo will be hoping to be the scourge of Simeone’s Atletico once again.
Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay all returned to training today, but Rangnick isn’t sure whether the England international will be available for the game.
