Tahith Chong made his Manchester United debut in the FA Cup third round against Reading. And he will be hoping for another chance in the same competition this week.
United take on Arsenal in the fourth round and the talented teenager could be the wildcard Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs.
At first glance, Chong may struggle to make the match day squad. But Arsenal’s injury problems mean an unpredictable (and incredibly pacy) winger is exactly what United need.
The Gunners will be without Hector Bellerin, while rotation could see Nacho Monreal play for the first time since December.
If that is the case, Arsenal’s back line may be there for the taking late on, with fitness potentially playing a part.
Chong is one of the fastest players on United’s books and he is not afraid to run at opponents.
If Monreal feels the pace late on, bringing on the Dutchman could be a masterstroke from Solskjaer. After all, the 19-year-old is equally comfortable on either flank and he will be desperate to impress.
So far the interim United boss has made headlines for his starting line-ups, but it could be late changes that decide Friday’s clash.
Only time will tell, but Arsenal’s lack of fit and firing full-backs could see Chong step up once more.
