Manchester United head into their match against Paris Saint-Germain without a host of star players.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have done well despite a worsening injury crisis, their Champions League clash is another issue.

After all, United are 2-0 down, struck by injuries and without the suspended Paul Pogba.  In short, if they qualify it will go down as their greatest result since Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

It could also be the perfect opportunity for a new star to be born.

After all, United’s lack of numbers means the likes of Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes or Mason Greenwood could make the bench.  All three have travelled to Paris this week, including the previously injured 17-year-old striker.

That prospect is even more likely now Alexis Sanchez has joined so many of his teammates on the sidelines.

It is possible Chong, Greenwood and Gomes could be United’s only attacking options on the bench.  If Solskjaer wants to shake things up, any of them could make their Champions League debut.

From there, anything is possible.  Just ask Marcus Rashford, whose European debut saw a return of two goals and a complete transformation.

Greenwood is outstanding in front of goal for United’s youth teams.  So what chance another Federico Macheda moment?
