Copenhagen player talks up one ‘very strong’ Manchester United star ahead of Champions League clash

Copenhagen ace Rasmus Falk has given his thoughts on Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash.

It is remarkable to consider that at the start of 2022, Rasmus Hojlund was still a Copenhagen player, before being shuttled around in the transfer market to Sturm Graz, Atalanta, and eventually Manchester United.

Now at Manchester United, he is set to return to former club Copenhagen for tonight’s pivotal Champions League game.

Naturally, the topic of Denmark’s lead international striker was a big discussion point ahead of the match.

Rasmus Hojlund praised

Hojlund’s former teammate Rasmus Falk appeared alongside Copenhagen manager Jacob Neestrup at their press conference and he spoke highly of the Manchester United striker.

Falk said: “He is very very fast, very very strong, his mentality, he wants to score goals, he wants to do the best all the time. His hunger is his biggest strength.”

Manchester United have seen glimpses of Hojlund’s quality so far, with his best moments coming in the Champions League, where he has three goals in three games.

Erik ten Hag backs Rasmus Hojlund

Erik ten Hag was asked about Hojlund, and admitted the team need to work better to help the striker out, with the Dane starved of service in Manchester United’s attack, with the team only managing to score 12 goals in 11 Premier League games.

The manager accepts this, and observed, via club media: “He has scored already three goals in the Champions League, which is very good for an integration period.

“I think as a team we can be better in possession so we can create more and better chances and that will also give our offensive players more opportunities to score goals. What we have to work on is a stable starting XI or at least 12 or 13 players and then the routines will be better and we will create better chances.

“He wants to improve every day so it is lovely to work with him, with such characters.”

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes the 20-year-old needs to give his teammates a rollicking, in the same way he claimed Ruud van Nistelrooy once almost reduced Cristiano Ronaldo to tears, demanding better service.

It is now a month since Hojlund last hit the back of the net, but he should feel comfortable in Denmark. He certainly won’t be intimidate by Copenhagen’s atmosphere, in fact he should embrace it. This away fixture might be the perfect location for him to get back on track.
