Wout Weghorst’s transfer to Manchester United has been completed, the club have announced.
The Dutch forward has signed for the Red Devils on loan until the end of the season. There is no buy clause, and the deal was not done in time for him to feature in the Manchester derby.

Weghorst comments on deal
The striker said: “I feel privileged to be joining Manchester United. I’ve played against the club in the past and it’s a fantastic feeling to now have the chance to pull on the famous red shirt.
“I’ve seen United’s progress under Erik ten Hag this season and can’t wait to start playing my part in pushing the team towards its aims.
“Whatever happens in the next few months, I can promise to give everything to the club for as long as I am here.”
How the transfer unfolded
French website Footmercato broke the news last weekend that Wout Weghorst was a target for Manchester United, while the striker appeared to wave goodbye to Besiktas fans the same day as he celebrated a goal.
Besiktas attempted to resist losing the striker but it became clear Weghorst’s desire was to leave Turkey and sign for United, with the forward sitting out training in midweek.
A loan fee was then agreed with Burnley of £2.5 million, of which Besiktas will take a cut, with BBC Sport reporting on Thursday that there was a full agreement, with Weghorst flying into Manchester to undergo a medical.
