Confirmed Manchester United line-up vs Liverpool
Ralf Rangnick has selected his Manchester United side to face Liverpool at Anfield this evening.
United travel to their fierce rivals needing a positive result to maintain the pressure on Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the pursuit for the all-important fourth Champions League spot.
Here is the team the German has chosen face his compatriot Jurgen Klopp…
Starting XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Jones, Maguire, Dalot, Pogba, Matic, Fernandes, Elanga, Rashford.
Substitutes: Henderson, Telles, Bailly, McTominay Lingard, Mata, Hannibal, Garnacho, Sancho.
The Red Devils will be hoping to avenge the 5-0 defeat they suffered against Klopp’s side at Old Trafford back in October.
If Liverpool avoid defeat they will leapfrog Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, but Klopp’s team who are chasing an unprecedented quadruple are likely to go for the jugular against a depleted Manchester United side.
United come into the clash with several first team players absent. Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Fred and Edinson Cavani are all unavailable.
Cristiano Ronaldo is also absent after the death of his new-born son, which he disclosed on social media on Monday.
The lack of attacking options Rangnick has to call upon from the bench could mean Alejandro Garnacho makes his senior debut in arguably one of the most hostile atmosphere’s he’ll experience throughout his career.
Phil Jones is a surprise inclusion and United’s number four is making just his second start of the season.
The 30-year-old hasn’t played for two-and-a-half months since coming off the bench in the FA Cup against Middlesbrough.
