Confirmed Manchester United line-up v Aston Villa

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has named the starting line-up for his first FA Cup match.

The Reds take on Aston Villa tonight at Old Trafford with the game kicking off at 7.55pm with the match live on BBC One.

Here is how United line-up….

Confirmed XI: De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Varane, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Fernandes, Greenwood, Rashford, Cavani.

Substitutes: Heaton, Wan-Bissaka, Telles, Matic, van de Beek, Mata, Lingard, Elanga, Amad.

Ralf Rangnick has made five changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Wolves last time out and the big news is Cristiano Ronaldo has been given the night off.

Diogo Dalot comes back into the side as Aaron Wan-Bissaka drops to the bench and Victor Lindelof returns for the first time after coming off against Norwich in December with breathing difficulties, and then testing positive for Covid-19.

There are also recalls for Fred, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes who will captain the side tonight.

You can see how the line-up compares to the predicted XI here.

This is the first of two meetings against Villa in the space of six days, as the Red Devils travel to Villa Park for a 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday.

Former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard will be back at the Theatre of Dreams for the first time as a manager.

The Villains have already won at Old Trafford this season after they came away with a 1-0 win under Dean Smith in September.

Kortney Hause scored a header from a corner in the 88th minute before Fernandes blazed a penalty over the bar deep into injury time.

The winner of tonight’s clash will host Championship side Middlesbrough in the fourth round.
