Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat looks set to be added to the growing list of injury problems at Old Trafford after picking up a problem on international duty.

Sofyan Amrabat looked like he was finally finding his feet at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag but it now seems the Manchester United midfielder has another injury issue to contend with.

The midfielder was left out of the squad for the Atlas Lions’ friendly win over Ivory Coast last week and his attempts to get back in for yesterday’s clash ‘failed’ due to an injury, according to a report from Alayam24.

This would be a huge blow for United and particularly after the uncertainty over Casemiro, this is not what the Red Devils needed.

Morocco manager on Amrabat’s absence

As well as the information relayed by the African outlet, the manager of Morocco was asked about the fitness of the United midfielder and he seemed aware of the injury issues Amrabat was suffering with.

“We will not hide behind absences, because we knew about Amrabat’s absence before the start of the camp,” Morocco manager Walid Regragui said.

“Amrabat can get injured at some point. We must find a solution and alternative, and we have players capable of filling the void that Sofyan will leave.”

If the midfielder was already injured prior to his arrival at the Morocco camp, it begs the question of why on earth was the 27-year-old allowed to travel to the national team camp.

Amrabat added to injury list

After the injury concern for Casemiro, the absence of Amrabat for the game against Sheffield United would certainly be a huge blow for Ten Hag’s side.

The only realistic option that United would have in the absence of the two is to play Scott McTominay as the deepest midfielder at Bramall Lane, which would certainly be a risk, particularly after the Scotsman’s heroics against Brentford.

After a report from the Daily Mail which said United were investigating these continuing injury problems, the injury picked up by Amrabat, his second since joining the club, will place emphasis on the Red Devils’ need to sort out these major issues.
