Free-agent goalkeeper Joe Lewis is currently training with Premier League giants Manchester United after leaving Scottish outfit Aberdeen over the summer.
That is according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, writing on X.
Now, Manchester United are no strangers to bringing in experienced campaigners to provide depth behind the scenes, or to work alongside the academy with an eye on a career in coaching.
Lee Grant, Tom Huddlestone, Paul McShane, Tom Heaton and now Jonny Evans have all joined the Red Devils beyond the age of 30 in recent years. And Joe Lewis could potentially be offered the opportunity to follow in their footsteps.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper, once of Fulham, Norwich City and Cardiff, left Aberdeen over the summer after seven years at Pittodrie. McGrath says that Lewis is now ‘training with Man United’s academy’ in an attempt to build up his fitness.
It seems that Lewis has little interest in following McShane into coaching. Per Herald Sport, he plans to become an agent when he finally hangs up his gloves.
But, with Lewis keen to extend his career for at least another season, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the Bury-born shot-stopper could be offered a role as a third or fourth-choice ‘keeper at Old Trafford. Particularly if Tom Heaton moves on, with many clubs in the EFL keen on the one-time England international.

“Joe has been a colossal figure at the club for many years. He can be extremely proud of his contribution to Aberdeen FC,” Dons boss Barry Robson said following Lewis’ release a few months back.
“Both on and off the pitch, he has been a leader. Not only an outstanding goalkeeper, but a proper professional and exactly the type you want in and around your dressing room.
“I would like to thank Joe personally and wish him well for whatever is next.”
