Cole Palmer revealed that a Manchester United legend “messaged” him and the Chelsea star was quizzed on whether he was the right age to watch him in his prime.
The 22-year-old Manchester United-supporting fan started his career in the Manchester City youth academy before breaking into the first team.
Cole Palmer made 41 senior appearances for City and he scored six times and registered two assists before he left the Etihad in 2023.
The former City player was snapped up for an initial fee of £40m by Chelsea and Palmer has had a sensational impact at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer has netted an impressive 32 times and picked up 20 assists in 58 matches for the Blues, with the Chelsea ace becoming a key first-team player at the club.

Palmer talks Man Utd legend
Cole Palmer’s stunning spell at Chelsea so far led to the former Manchester City player securing his senior England debut in 2023.
The Chelsea star went on to feature for England at Euro 2024 in Germany in the summer, with Palmer scoring in the 2-1 final defeat to Spain.
Speaking to GQ magazine, Palmer’s exploits for both club and country caught the eye of Manchester United legend David Beckham.
“[David] Beckham messaged me,” he said. “I scored one day, and I saw him in my DMs.”
The England international was asked if he was the ‘right age’ to watch David Beckham and Palmer admitted that he didn’t really follow the United legend.
When asked about watching Beckham, Palmer responded: “Not really. I was a bit young.”
Palmer on admiration for Wayne Rooney
Palmer has previously opened up about his admiration of Wayne Rooney and admitted that the United legend had a meaningful impact on his childhood.
The former Chelsea ace watched the 39-year-old ex-United and England striker in action and would even try to replicate what he did on the pitch as a kid.
“If he’d scored a goal on the weekend, I would go out and see if I could do it,” Palmer told The Telegraph.
“My family still live in Wythenshawe, so when I’m going past the park I always try to stop and remember it.
“I do try to take it in my stride, but you do sometimes have moments when you think, ‘Maybe 12 months ago none of this was like this, maybe I could go more places and do things.’
“I do stop and think, ‘Wow, it has changed fast.’ I’m still getting used to it.”
