PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo is ‘disappointed’ Manchester United withdrew their interest in him to focus on signing Ajax’s Antony.
That’s according to Sky Sports News journalist Rob Dorsett who has reported that Southampton have had a £21m bid for Gakpo rejected.
PSV, who are managed by former Red Devils striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, are reportedly holding out for a bid around £25m for the seven-time Netherlands international.
Manchester United has reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Antony. BBC Sport report a fee of £80.75 million has been agreed which will rise to £84 million.
Cody Gakpo disappointed Manchester United withdrew interest

After failing to qualify for the Champions League group stages after being knocked out by Rangers, Gakpo’s intentions look to have switched to sealing a move away from the Dutch giants late in the transfer window.
But with Manchester United closing in on a move for Erik ten Hag‘s priority forward target Antony, interest in PSV’s prized asset has seemingly cooled.
However, if the Red Devils do allow Cristiano Ronaldo to leave for a Champions League club before Thursday’s 11pm deadline, the club’s stance on Gakpo could change again.
The Independent have previously reported that Ten Hag will only move for Gakpo if Ronaldo leaves.

The 23-year-old has started the season in scintillating form – he has 10 goal involvements (four goals, six assists) from eight matches.
He already looks on track to improve on the 36 goal involvements (21 goals, 15 assists) he produced last season.
Given Southampton’s interest in Gakpo, it could well be that like Ajax’s number 11 (Antony), PSV’s number 11 could be heading for the Premier League as well.
Unlike Antony, the big question is where will Gakpo be playing his football when the summer transfer window slams shut.
