Christian Eriksen’s ‘divine’ pass during Denmark’s Euro 2024 qualifier victory over Kazakhstan earned the Manchester United playmaker some glowing praise from his head coach.
His form at club level may have left a bit to be desired in recent times. But, on the international stage, Christian Eriksen remains as talismanic and as influential as ever.
Manchester United’s veteran playmaker rolled back the years as Denmark took revenge on a Kazakhstan side who secured a famous 3-2 win over the Scandinavians a few months earlier. Eriksen’s ‘divine’ assist to set up Robert Skov just after half-time – a delightful outside-of-the-boot pass bisecting the visiting defence – was very much the icing on the cake.

Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen in ‘divine’ form
“I think (our tactics) worked better in the latter part of the first half. We scored a couple of goals,” smiles Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand (TV2). “It got much better in the second half, and we were helped by a divine pass from Christian Eriksen.
“He has that magic, and it is a fantastic action. A fantastic ball,” the former Mainz boss adds, via Tipsbladet. “Top class.”
That was Eriksen’s 29th assist on the international stage, to go with his 40 goals. Denmark are now on the verge of securing qualification for next summer’s European Championship on German soil. A tournament that may be something of a last dance for the likes of Eriksen and fellow veteran Simon Kjaer.
Denmark on verge of qualification
“It was a good run by Robert (Skov), and a pass that I can well claim that 99 per cent of the stadium hadn’t seen. At least, I hadn’t, and I stand right behind him!” Kjaer beams of the evergreen Eriksen.
“It is Christian. I just went over and shook his hand, and then I just nodded at him. He knew what I meant. It’s Christian. These are the things he sees.”
