Manchester United players have been in action for their countries this weekend, including Christian Eriksen who was one of the stars of the show for Denmark.
Eriksen starred in Denmark’s 3-1 victory over Kazakstan and was at his very best. The Dane has had a tough season at United, but last night’s performance will definitely give him some confidence going into the rest of the campaign.
The midfielder registered an assist and provided an all-round superb display. Manchester United teammate Rasmus Hojlund also featured.
It was one moment in the fixture however which has been heavily praised by his national compatriots.
Eriksen provides ludicrous assist for his country
Eriksen’s undoubted highlight of the match came when he got the assist for Robert Skov’s goal.
The 31-year-old played a delicious outside-of-the-foot through ball in what was a simply ridiculous pass.
Eriksen has always been one for a sublime assist, but this is up there with his best work.
Eriksen hailed by teammates
Speaking with media after the game (via Tipsbladet) Eriksen’s teammates had nothing but praise for him.
Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen said: “We talked about it in the dressing room after. Not many people saw it! I think it was only Christian who saw it. It tells what class pass it was.
“It was also a really good race by Robert, you shouldn’t forget that – and coolly kicked in too.”
Simon Kjaer said: “We’ll come out fine for the second half… It was a good run by Robert and a pass I can sign that 99 percent of the stadium didn’t see, because I certainly hadn’t, and I’m right behind him!
“I look outwards, and then I see him going the other way. It’s Christian. I just walked over and gave him a handshake and I just nodded at him – he knew what I meant. It’s Christian. These are the things he sees.”
It was a phenomenal assist and deserves its praise. We just hope Christian can transfer some of these fine displays for his country to his ones in Manchester.
