Christian Eriksen is in the final year of his contract and faces an uncertain future at Manchester United.
As things stand, the 32-year-old midfielder will leave Manchester United at the end of the season as a free agent.
That remains the case unless the club offers him a new contract – something that is yet to be discussed with his camp.
Fabrizio Romano claimed on Monday that Christian Eriksen is expected to leave at the end of the season.
Eriksen did not rule out a January exit earlier this week when asked about his future in Manchester and he confirmed that he is yet to hear from the club about a potential new contract.
Given the other midfield options in the Manchester United squad, it has been quite a surprise that Eriksen is having a superb season with United with the Danish international scoring four goals and providing three assists in 13 appearances so far.

Christian Eriksen faces ‘crucial’ six weeks under Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim is set to take training at Carrington for the first time on Monday, and supporters will soon get their first glimpse at his plans for United.
Whether those plans include Eriksen or not is yet to be seen.
Speaking exclusively to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, he confirmed to United in Focus that the club hierarchy are waiting to see how things play out under Ruben Amorim before entering any contract talks or making any decisions on the squad.
Bailey confirmed that Eriksen is not expecting a contract offer as United’s leaders, including sporting director Dan Ashworth, have informed his camp of the situation.
United are leaving the situation open but “the next six weeks will be crucial” for Eriksen to prove he is part of Amorim’s plans.
With Amorim recruited as a head coach rather than the manager, all squad decisions ultimately fall on Ashworth’s desk.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof contract update
Two other players in the final year of their contracts is centre-back duo Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Following the summer signings of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt, Maguire and Lindelof had been pushed down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.
However, Amorim is expected to implement a 3-4-3 system at United which could provide extra opportunities for centre-backs.
Speaking to Bailey, he confirmed that Maguire and Lindelof are in similar situations to Eriksen. They are also facing a crucial six-week period under Ashworth’s spotlight before a contract decision is made.
Maguire and Lindelof are also yet to hold any talks over new contracts as Ashworth and Co. wait to find out whether Amorim has them in his plans at United.
