Manchester United playmaker Christian Eriksen has declared he loves playing alongside fellow midfielder Casemiro.

Erik ten Hag’s summer signings have struck up a fruitful partnership in the heart of United’s midfield, and the Denmark international hasn’t been surprised by the impact the former Real Madrid man has had at Old Trafford.

The five-time Champions League winner established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe during his time with Los Blancos.

The serial winner has added quality and grit to United’s engine room, and the Red Devils are unbeaten in the four Premier League games the 30-year-old has started.

United’s number 18 ensured that the twenty-time league champions extended our unbeaten run to six games across all competitions with a towering last-gasp header to rescue a point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Such was the 65-time Brazil international’s standing in the game and the consistent high level he showed at the Santiago Bernabeu, Eriksen always believed the South American could cope making the transition to the Premier League.

United’s number 14, who sat alongside Ten Hag during the pre-match press conference for tomorrow’s Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol, was specifically asked about his relationship with Casemiro.

Eriksen said: “I think you can see in the games – we like playing together, of course we’re still getting to know one and other well on and off the pitch, but he’s a nice guy outside the pitch as well, and on the pitch I think football knowledge people know he’s been playing games like this for last eight years at [Real] Madrid, so I’m not surprised he can cope, but it’s lovely to play with him.”

United’s world-class midfield signings have given Ten Hag’s side the ability to control matches and bring an element of calmness and leadership when under pressure.
