Manchester United playmaker Christian Eriksen inspired former side Brentford to victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge six months ago.

The influential 30-year-old will be hoping to secure a place in Erik ten Hag’s starting line-up for Saturday evening’s trip to Chelsea.

Having missed Sunday’s goalless draw to Newcastle United through illness, United’s number 14 came off the bench in the closing stages of the 2-0 win against another of his former clubs Tottenham Hotspur.

But given how well Fred played alongside fellow Brazilian Casemiro, Eriksen and Scott McTominay may have to settle for a place on the bench for our trip to West London.

However, Eriksen’s last performance at Stamford Bridge could force Ten Hag into recalling the Denmark playmaker.

Having won the previous two games, he had started for Thomas Frank’s Bees, Brentford’s former number 21 helped inspire the promoted side to a 4-1 win against Thomas Tuchel’s Blues.

Eriksen put his side into a 2-1 lead after slotting home a squared pass from Bryan Mbeumo to complete a breakaway move.

The 117-time Denmark international finished the match with 58 touches, which was more than any other Brentford player, and created three chances.

The Scandinavian midfield maestro also put in a big defensive shift for his team, he won five duels as well as registering four clearances, three tackles and one interception, reports SofaScore.

As well as being aware of Eriksen’s impressive last outing at Stamford Bridge, Ten Hag will no doubt be aware of the former Inter Milan’s impressive overall record against Chelsea.

From 17 matches against Saturday’s opponents, Eriksen has 10 goal involvements to his name (three goals, seven assists).

Stoke City (8) are the only side that Eriksen has provided more assists against than Chelsea.

Eriksen will no doubt hope that his most recent outing and overall record against Chelsea results in him earning a recall from Ten Hag come Saturday evening.
