Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has been included in Tim Sherwood’s Premier League Team of the Season at the halfway mark of the 2022-23 campaign.

The 30-year-old joined the Red Devils on a free transfer in the summer following the expiry of his short-term contract with Brentford.

The Danish playmaker has hit the ground running at Old Trafford and has become a vital part of Erik ten Hag’s side.

Signing the Danish midfield maestro as a free agent looks set to be one of United’s shrewdest moves in recent history.

From 20 games across all competitions this season, United’s number 14 has one goal and six assists to his name.

The 117-time Denmark international sits top of the Red Devils assist charts and he scored his first goal for the club in the dramatic 2-1 win against Fulham.

Sherwood, who managed Eriksen during his time in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, was in no doubt that the Scandinavian star was going to be a big hit at Old Trafford.

The former Spurs boss also believes that United wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho can learn from Eriksen in the same way Harry Kane did.

Announcing his Premier League Team of the Season so far on talkSPORT, Sherwood said: “Christian Eriksen, I am putting in there.

“Everyone was questioning his big move. He went to Inter and hardly played. We know he had health problems.

“Then he goes to Man United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and he just stands up. I knew he would because I know the character of the boy. He’s just a great example of how you need to conduct yourself.

“If you want to learn off anyone. Garnacho, that young boy who is going to be a sensation, he needs to go and sit next to Christian Eriksen and learn how to be a professional footballer. You will never get a better example. Harry (Kane) learnt off Christian. I am sure that boy will pick the right person in the dressing room to learn off.”

In 23 appearances for Spurs under Sherwood, Eriksen scored nine goals and laid on nine assists.

It was Eriksen’s perfectly weighted pass that presented Garnacho with the chance to go and score his first Premier League goal and give the twenty-time league champions a crucial three points at Craven Cottage before the winter break.
