Christian Eriksen has praised Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.
If Christian Eriksen sets up Marcel Sabitzer for a goal against Sevilla tonight, he will inadvertently have Andy Carroll to thank.
If not for Eriksen’s cruel injury at the hands of the clumsy Reading forward in late January, Marcel Sabitzer would still be at Bayern Munich.
Instead with Eriksen ruled for for three months, Manchester United swooped on Bayern to sign Sabitzer on loan.
Now in April with Eriksen fit again, Manchester United can benefit from having both players available until the end of the season.
At the weekend it didn’t quite work out that way. Sabitzer suffered a pre-game injury, and in a role reversal, Sabitzer filled in as his replacement.
Against Sevilla tonight, both players are fully fit and could line up together. With Bruno Fernandes out suspended, there is room for both in the starting XI.

Eriksen impressed by Sabitzer
Christian Eriksen spoke at his press conference ahead of the Sevilla tie and picked out Sabitzer for praise.
He said, via the club website: “Marcel has done unbelievable while I’ve been away.
He added: “Everyone tries to do their job, tries to fit in as well as possible. Fred has done well, and Scott [McTominay] when he was playing.
“I think I’ve played with them all but I’ve only trained a few times with Marcel because he came in after I was injured. He’s a very good player.”
Manchester United fans have been left impressed two. The Austrian scored two goals in the first leg against Sevilla, and Erik ten Hag will hope for more of the same in Seville tonight.
