Charlie Savage has been one of the standout players in Manchester United’s pre-season tour to date.
The teenager has been mixing in with the Red Devils’ first team regulars, and at just 19, he does not look at all out of place.
Along with close friend and academy teammate Zidane Iqbal, Savage has suddenly put himself into the first team mix and impressed with a mix of composure, strong positional play and passing ability.
His strong performances are not just taking place on the pitch. He has been left senior United players trailing in training too.

Savage has left senior United players trailing
A report in The Telegraph says of Charlie Savage, “there are first-team players who have struggled to keep pace with him in training.”
Savage has caught Erik ten Hag’s eye, with the report adding his ability to distribute the ball effectively under pressure is exactly what the manager wants from his midfielders.
All options remain open with Savage, and Iqbal, over the season ahead. Loan moves are still possible, if not this summer, then in January, once the Europa League group stages are over.

It also depends somewhat on how the rest of Manchester United’s transfer window pans out, whether there are additions in midfield beyond Christian Eriksen.
A decision must also be made on James Garner’s future, who will have a market on loan, and has not yet had an opportunity to impress on pre-season tour due to injury.
If circumstances do lead to Savage being called on, the initial signs suggest he is up to the task and will not let Manchester United down.
