Charlie Savage has praised the job Erik ten Hag has done in his first season at Manchester United.

Speaking to The Independent, Charlie Savage says he has been impressed by the club’s achievements.

United are on course to qualify for the Champions League and have already won the Carabao Cup.

Savage starred for Manchester United in pre-season and spent the first half of the season training with the first team, before then joining Forest Green Rovers on loan.

Savage on Ten Hag

Charlie Savage says he enjoyed his time working under Erik ten Hag in 2022 and is impressed by what he has seen, first hand and after afar.

He said: “I spent the first two, three months of the season with them every day, so it was a really, really good experience learning from him and taking knowledge from him.

“I think United have had a really good season, winning the Carabao Cup and potentially winning an FA Cup, so I’d say he’s done a really good job.”

Savage is unclear what the future holds but says he is open to whatever is decided by the club.

The 20-year-old said: “Whether that be on a better loan, at United or whatever it is. Football works in weird ways. you never know where you’re going to be until maybe a week before.”

United will likely take another look at Savage in pre-season again. Whether there is space for him in the first team squad next season, could be unlikely, but that’s up to Ten Hag.

His next step, at a guess, we would say is another loan deal. His spell at League One bottom side Forest Green was tough, but it showed he can play competitive football.

Savage did well, scoring his first professional goal, and he is likely to have even more offers this summer if United make him available for loan.
