Manchester United loanee Charlie McNeill impressed as he scored for Newport County in their 3-0 win against Northampton on Friday.
The 19-year-old has impressed massively for United’s youth sides but has gone out on loan to the League Two side this season in order to gain some valuable experience and game time.
Mcneill struggled initially at Newport, failing to net in his first ten matches, however, has found some great form in recent games – netting twice in three games.

Mcneill impresses on loan
The on-loan forward came off the bench for The Exiles and dispatched a clinical left-footed strike into the bottom corner to score the third goal of the afternoon and secure the win in style.
Hailed as an ‘unstoppable finish’ on Newport’s official website – McNeill is finding his rhythm now in the lower leagues.
It was expertly finished by McNeill, which demonstrates qualities that United are actually lacking at the moment.
Despite the 2-0 home victory over Everton, United squandered many chances throughout the duration of the match – which is epitomised due to their lack of a striker at the moment.
Marcus Rashford was preferred to Wout Weghorst up top, but it’s undeniable that he’s more effective off the left-hand side, which suggests that Erik ten Hag doesn’t really have a set centre-forward that he can rely on.
Anthony Martial did come on in the second half and score, however, the injury-ridden forward only seems one step away from his next trip to the medical room – so he can’t be relied on.
This is why ten Hag will be delighted to see McNeill finding form, and could foreshadow the prospect of him featuring for United up top if he stays next season. Time will tell.
