Casemiro has been leading by example for Brazil during the international break as the Selecao begin a new era after their World Cup disappointment.
The Manchester United midfielder has been made captain of Brazil, and while his first game as skipper ended with a 2-1 friendly loss to Morocco, Casemiro scored his country’s goal.
Casemiro’s role as captain goes beyond the team’s output on the pitch. He is regarded as a role model for the next generation of Brazil’s top stars.
With five Champions League medals to his name already, Casemiro is now busy proving himself in English football too, adding to his legacy.
Casemiro gets more and more impressive
The chance to train and play alongside Casemiro has been a dream come true for Brazil youngster Andrey Santos.
Andrey Santos recently signed for Chelsea for £18 million and is back on loan at Vasco da Gama.
After being called up to the senior Brazil squad for the first time last week, his dad told UOL Esporte: “He looks a lot at Casemiro, it’s part of his position. Possibly they can play together for a few minutes there.”
They did both start in midfield against Morocco, with Santos substituted on 65 minutes, but it is the training sessions which have really left the young prospect impressed.
Andrey Santos told Lance: “Incredible experience, I observed Casemiro a lot, who is in my position, a reference, each day of training I was more impressed. So I go back to Vasco with this amazing experience.”
Manchester United’s young players will be getting this ‘amazing experience’ to train with Casemiro on a daily basis, to their benefit.
Kobbie Mainoo is one who has been learning first-hand, while Zidane Iqbal has also been benefitting from training with Casemiro, even if he has not played a minute for the first team this season.
Casemiro is now set to return to Carrington, as their international break consisted of just one fixture, with their search for a new permanent manager ongoing.
