Casemiro was back to his brilliant best in the Premier League fixture against Aston Villa.
The Brazilian has been nothing short of a revelation since joining from Real Madrid in the summer. The no-nonsense 31-year-old has transformed Erik ten Hag‘s midfield, filling a huge gap that’s been gaping for years now.
However – he’s been far from perfect. A few silly red cards have meant that Casemiro has missed a lot of game time. We think this has had a direct negative impact on his recent performances prior to the Villa game as he looked reluctant to fly into challenges.
However, the game today proves it was only a minor blip. He was nothing short of sensational and dominant in midfield.

Casemiro resumes normal service against the Villans
The Rolls Royce of a holding midfielder bounced back from his mediocre previous performances with an absolute masterclass at Old Trafford.
This was definitely his best performance following his return from suspension. Today’s Casemiro was the warrior we’ve seen in the middle of the park throughout the duration of the season. His statistics from today’s game certainly back this up.
Erik ten Hag also had high praise for the five-time Champions League winner.
“Today this was the Casemiro we have seen all season. His leadership is so important for us. Others go with him, he is an example,” the Dutchman said following the victory.
Hopefully, this performance is a sign of things to come. United have some extremely tough fixtures left, including a Manchester derby at Wembley. Ten Hag needs Casemiro at the top of his game if United want to finish the season strongly.
