Casemiro improvement at Man Utd gets significant Carlo Ancelotti verdict, set for breakthrough after two-year snub

Real Madrid will say goodbye to legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the 2024/25 season.

European football is set to see a significant shift this summer with Carlo Ancelotti stepping away to take control of the Brazil national team, after the Brazilian Football Confederation put an end to speculation by confirming that the Italian coach would officially take charge of the five-time world champions on May 26.

Ancelotti has had many battles against Manchester United throughout his career. The former AC Milan, Chelsea and Everton manager was victorious on seven different occasions against the Red Devils throughout his career in the dugout.

Many would argue that Ancelotti was the man to replace Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, when the Red Devils opted to appoint David Moyes to replace the greatest manager of all-time.

Ancelotti’s record as a serial winner at Real Madrid proves that United missed a trick not looking to the Italian for guidance in the past decade.

Anyhow, that time has passed and Ancelotti has other plans for when he leaves Real Madrid this summer. He will turn to international football to focus on managing Brazil ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Casemiro set for Brazil recall under Carlo Ancelotti

The appointment of Ancelotti as Brazil manager is good news for Manchester United star Casemiro.

The pair will form a reunion after their time together at Real Madrid before Casemiro left the Bernabeu to join United.

Casemiro has enjoyed a resurgence lately under Ruben Amorim and he is now set to rewarded with another chance to play on the international stage for his country. At the age of 33, that will come with some relief for the experienced midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti has made ‘initial plans’ to discuss Casemiro’s return to the international stage at the latter stages of his career.

Casemiro was the previous Brazil captain, but he was subsequently dropped for his country’s 2024 Copa America campaign after a poor spell of form at United.

It is understood that Casemiro and Ancelotti have maintained an ‘excellent’ relationship from their time at Real Madrid. The newly appointed manager reportedly wants to lean on his invaluable experience in the dressing room ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

This will be fantastic news for Casemiro, who made his debut for Brazil back in 2011 and has since made 75 caps for the Selecao.

Casemiro has not played for Brazil since their 2-0 defeat against Uruguay in October 2023. The appointment of Ancelotti could see that change this summer after a strong end to the season at Old Trafford.

‘Sensational’ Casemiro warrants Brazil recall

Casemiro was one of the standout performers in United’s 3-0 win over Athletic Club in the Europa League.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand hailed the veteran’s display for ‘coming to the fore’ in United’s first-leg win in Bilbao.

“I don’t think Casemiro has put a foot wrong. He’s been sensational. He has been so disciplined,” Ferdinand said on TNT Sports’ live coverage.

“People have been talking about getting rid of him, his legs have gone etcetera.

“But I tell you what, he’s come to the fore when they have needed him.

“He’s coaching this team through this and it’s a massive moment in the season for them.”

Casemiro also performed strongly against Real Sociedad in the knockout stages of the Europa League. It’s no wonder Ancelotti wants him in his Brazil squad.

Sadly, Ferdinand missed commentary duties for the second leg against Athletic Club, due to being hospitalised with an illness bug.
