Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has revealed that a club teammate is “one of the sharpest players” he has played alongside in his prolific career.

Casemiro made a name for himself at Real Madrid and was once considered one of the best defensive midfielders in the world due to his success at Los Blancos.

The 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder shared the pitch with a roster of talented players at Madrid, including Los Blancos and Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Casemiro arrived at Old Trafford in 2022 after United signed him in a deal worth up to £70m, with the former Madrid star making a sensational debut season in England.

The United star was widely hailed for the much-needed stability and influence he offered to the Red Devils’ midfield in the 2022-23 Premier League season.

However, Casemiro’s influence in midfield has been hindered this season due to his injuries, lack of consistency and run of form under United boss Erik ten Hag.

Despite not having the same impact at Old Trafford this season, the Brazil captain has remained a key first-team figure for Erik ten Hag when he is fit.

Casemiro on ‘very sharp’ Man Utd star

Casemiro has been deployed in midfield this season alongside teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo, who has had a remarkable breakthrough campaign at Old Trafford.

The Brazil international has raved about Kobbie Mainoo’s talent, with even Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag praising Casemiro’s influence on the youngster.

Despite his relationship with Mainoo, Red Devils star Casemiro revealed that another United star stood out for his “very sharp” ability on the pitch.

The former Sao Paulo player insisted that United captain Bruno Fernandes has proven his sharpness in the final third of the pitch.

Speaking to Inside United (via Manchester United’s official website), Casemiro said: “[Bruno Fernandes is] one of the sharpest players towards goal I’ve played with in my career.”

Bruno Fernandes, who has faced criticism over his captaincy and consistency this season, has been a key figure in the United first team since he arrived in 2020.

Casemiro talks another Man Utd midfielder

Along with his praise for Fernandes, Casemiro also singled out Christian Eriksen and highlighted the core strength of the 32-year-old Denmark midfielder.

According to Casemiro, Christian Eriksen is the type of player “who looks after the ball” and the United star “treats the ball with care.”

Casemiro was also impressed with Eriksen’s superb passing skill and his ability to “control” matches, saying that his club teammate is “always wanting the ball.”

Eriksen arrived in the same transfer window as Casemiro after he left Brentford and signed for United on a free, with the midfielder also impressing in his debut season.

But the former Inter Milan and Tottenham star, much like Casemiro, has seen his influence at Old Trafford wane in the current Premier League campaign.
