Casemiro and Luke Shaw had countless Manchester United legends to pick from but they both gave the same answer.

Old Trafford has been the home of several legendary teams throughout the years, and Erik ten Hag is now trying to write his own chapter in Manchester United’s history books.

From the Busby Babes to Sir Alex Ferguson‘s 20-year dominance, United have so often been at the peak of English football and throughout that time, countless legends have made their name at the Theatre of Dreams.

There has been a drop in success since Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, but United remain one of the biggest clubs in the world and there are signs under Ten Hag that the Red Devils could return to the glory days.

Throughout their time at United, players are often asked which club legend they’d have liked to play against – this time it was Luke Shaw and Casemiro on the receiving end of the question and they both made the same choice.

Casemiro and Luke Shaw would love to play with Paul Scholes

Casemiro and Shaw are two of United’s more senior players and are leaders within the United dressing room.

They have both helped United lift silverware in recent years but have failed to lift the Premier League. When asked which United legend they’d love to play with, they were both quick to name 11-time league champion Paul Scholes.

Speaking to JD Sports in a TikTok video, Shaw said: “There’s a few but I think I would have to say Paul Scholes.

Casemiro joked: “Only one?” Before adding “I love Scholes”. What a partnership they would have made in the heart of United’s midfield in their prime.

Shaw, now into his 10th year as a United player, joined the Red Devils in 2014 just one year after Scholes announced his retirement.

Lisandro Martinez did not hesitate to name Nemanja Vidic as the club legend he would most love to play with, while Amad Diallo opted for Wayne Rooney.

Paul Scholes is a Manchester United icon

Scholes represents everything good about Manchester United. He came through the academy as a youngster and became one of the world’s best.

He was part of the infamous Class of 92 and went on to enjoy a glittering playing career that spanned 19 years. Scholes features in United’s top 10 best-ever central midfielders.

Scholes was a central cog in what was Ferguson’s best-ever team, and he has the trophies to prove it. He won a staggering 20 trophies with United, including 11 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues.

He was named by Sir Bobby Charlton as his favourite player of the modern era and has inspired hundreds of midfielders currently at football’s peak.

His passing range was immense and it is easy to picture him playing a pin-point pass to an overlapping Shaw, or forming a formidable partnership with Casemiro in midifeld.
