Carlos Tevez’s managerial career goes from bad to worse after Talleres sacking

Carlos Tevez has continued to struggle as a coach after losing his job at Talleres just 12 months into his latest stint.

Former Argentina international Carlos Tevez spent two years at Manchester United, where he was part of a formidable three-man strike force with Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Tevez left Old Trafford under a grey cloud as he signed for Man City. He went on to play for Juventus, Shanghai Shenhua and returned to Boca Juniors.

Since retiring, Tevez has held multiple jobs in management, but has struggled to achieve success.

Carlos Tevez sacked at Talleres

Tevez has held three different managerial jobs in the Argentine Primera Division since June 2022.

The first job at Rosario Central ended after just five months, citing the club’s elections and a lack of long-term institutional stability as reasons.

He also took on a massive job at Independiente and made an immediate impression as he saved them from relegation.

Tevez left Independiente after a poor start to the following campaign, amid raised tensions at the club, but he left it in better shape than it was in when he arrived.

The former United striker took a year out of the dugout before returning to management with Talleres. He won 13 of his 35 games in charge as the team qualified for the play-offs with a fourth-place finish.

However, Talleras lost 1-0 to Belgrano in the round of 16. It turned out to be Tevez’s final game as manager after less than 12 months at the club.

As a result, Tevez was sacked by Talleres, per talkSPORT.

Tevez lasted just five months in his first job and nine months in the latter. That doesn’t bode well for a budding manager.

This means Tevez is a free agent again. It will be interesting to see if he ever takes his managerial career to Europe.

Carlos Tevez record in the dugout

Tevez will be hoping that his managerial career doesn’t end here.

It’s important to acknowledge that all of the jobs given to Tevez thus far have been challenging, with mid-table clubs at best.
