The Carabao Cup third round draw has taken place, with Manchester United landing a home draw against League One side Barnsley.
Rule changes for the Carabao Cup third round draw meant United could not be picked against another team playing in European competition. This is to ease scheduling concerns.

We will face League One side Barnsley, who were recently defeated in the EFL Trophy by United’s under-21s.

Newcastle have beaten Forest 4-3 on penalties. They are number 29 in the draw.

Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have played to a 1-1 tie. The draw will be held after a penalty shootout between the two teams.
Newcastle beat Manchester United in the third round last season, but we beat them in the final in 2023.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the competition, AFC Wimbledon have beaten Ipswich on penalties.

Note the date… the Carabao Cup Final will take place on March 16.
Manchester United will be looking to win the trophy for a sixth time, last doing so under current boss Erik ten Hag in 2023.
