Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmöller has revealed a dream that involves Manchester United.
The Bundesliga proved to be the wrong destination for former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who was sacked as Bayer Leverkusen at the beginning of the season, despite only being appointed during the summer.
Ten Hag was the third former United manager to lose his job this season, following on from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jose Mourinho, who had both been managing in the Turkish Super Lig.
United also signed Benjamin Sesko from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, although the Slovenian striker is still waiting to score his first goal for the Red Devils.
There will be many figures in the Bundesliga who will be hoping to one day follow in Sesko’s footsteps.

Dino Toppmöller reveals Manchester United dream
Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmöller has made it clear that he dreams of one day coaching United.
Toppmöller has been Bayer Leverkusen’s manager since 2023, and he turned down a proposal to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad last summer.
Speaking on Bild podcast ‘Phrasenmaher’, he revealed that he would one day like to manage United, like he did many times with computer games.
“Basically, it’s a dream to be at Eintracht now. It’s just a fantastic club,” said Toppmöller.
He added: “If we think about going abroad, I often played computer games as a child, always with one team: Manchester United. That would definitely be nice someday, because it’s an exceptional club. When I was a teenager, Manchester United was, along with Real Madrid, the biggest club of all.”
Frankfurt are currently positioned 6th in the Bundesliga, with six points from their first four games of the season.
Toppmöller will have to do something special to warrant the United job at any point in the future.
Toppmöller took Donny van de Beek on loan
United sent Van de Beek on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024 and he worked with Toppmöller.
However, Van de Beek made just eight appearances during his time in the Bundesliga.
Toppmöller also apologised to the midfielder after leaving him out of their European squad that season.
Speaking at the time, he said (via Daily Mail): “He’s only played a total of four games in the last two years, so it won’t happen overnight.
“But I have 100 per cent confidence in his quality, he’ll definitely help us in the second half of the season. I told Donny that I was sorry but also what I expected from him now.”
Van de Beek had injury problems at Frankfurt, and he has suffered a recent setback that is deemed serious.
Toppmöller had praised Van de Beek after his Frankfurt debut, but the midfielder failed to build on his promising start.
