Robbie Savage has had his say on who he believes should win Manchester United’s Player of the Year award.
As the season concludes, it’s nearly awards time. Pundits are having their say on Goal and Player of the Season awards.
In Manchester United’s case, there are many who could be deemed worthy of the honour. Marcus Rashford has been scoring goals for fun and Lisandro Martinez has been a rock at the back – whilst Casemiro has transformed the midfield.
This award isn’t as straightforward as it’s been in the last few seasons. With numerous players up for the title, it’s sparking debate amongst fans and pundits alike about where it’ll end up.

Robbie Savage believes Casemiro should win the Player of the Year award
Speaking with Manchester United, Robbie Savage gave his opinion on who he deems most worthy of the Player of the Year award. He opted for Casemiro.
“[It’s] between Martinez, Casemiro and Rashford, those three,” the BT Sport pundit told United’s media team.
“If I was saying right now: who would Manchester United miss the most for the longest period in the team? Who affects the team the most? Is it Rashford or Casemiro or Martinez?
“I would probably think Casemiro because, when he’s not played or he’s played poorly, you look at the results. So I would say Casemiro.”
Savage himself played a similar role to the Brazilian in his playing days. He knows just how hard it is to command the midfield as he does in the Premier League.
“When you’re listening to legends like Scholesy [Paul Scholes] and Owen [Hargreaves] speak about him, as a midfield player, I didn’t realise he has that much to his game: the passes round the corner, the goals.
“When you’ve got [Luka] Modric and Toni Kroos in your team, you think he just gets it and gives it but I think he’s shown a lot more than that.
“I think he’s just been made the Brazilian captain as well. So, again, Manchester United, to have the captain of Brazil playing in their team, is fantastic.
“So I think he’s been terrific and has offered a lot more than what people thought. You listen to ex-managers and ex-players saying they weren’t sure but I think he’s proved, even Casemiro the captain of Brazil, has proven people wrong in the Premier League.”
