Bryan Robson praises Charlie Savage

Robson said he felt Savage has done well in multiple aspects of his game on and off the ball and has stood out in his substitute showings.

He said: “Charlie Savage has done well in the two games. He’s worked hard, he hasn’t given ball away, he closes people down really well.

“He’s done nothing really wrong at the moment. This is a good opportunity to impress the manager.”

Savage has impressed along with young teammate Zidane Iqbal, with both players looking very assured in possession.

A report from The Telegraph said Savage has shown such energy in training that he has left senior Manchester United players trailing behind him.

Praise from Bryan Robson is another big reason for Savage to be pleased at the impact he has been able to make so far.

This pre-season has been a huge opportunity for him, and if he is kept on by Erik ten Hag as part of the first team squad into next season, then he will want to keep on impressing.

There will likely be cup game opportunities ahead, and Erik ten Hag is a manager who has proven his commitment to giving young players chances, during his time at Ajax.
