Bryan Mbeumo has explained that he took inspiration from a popular American animated sitcom series in revealing his latest goal celebration.
Since joining Manchester United in a £65m move from Brentford, Bryan Mbeumo has hit the ground running at Old Trafford.
Mbeumo has been United’s best signing of the summer by some distance, scoring five goals in his first 11 matches.
However, in United’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, Mbeumo didn’t quite have the same impact on the game that he had the week prior when he scored a brace in a win over Brighton.
A string of impressive performances contributed to United’s three-match win streak in October, leading to Mbeumo being nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award.

Bryan Mbeumo celebration inspired by The Simpsons
Mbeumo found the back of the net twice in United’s 4-2 win over Brighton.
The 26-year-old celebrated one of his goals with his Ivorian teammate, Amad, as the pair mimicked a dance from The Simpsons.
Many fans were left curious as to where the dance came from, but during a chat with MUTV, United’s top scorer revealed the inspiration behind the moves.
“It’s from a GIF from Homer Simpson,” Mbeumo said. “Yeah, so if you go to the GIF [section in your phone] and you put ‘Homer Simpson dance’, you will be able to find it.
“I think we’ve been talking about this [Amad and I], this morning with him, so let’s see [about any future celebrations].”
The Simpsons has been on our screens since 1987, but it seems like Mbeumo and Amad remain fans of the series, although the dance also features in the popular video game Fortnite.
Mbeumo was talking to club media after collecting his second United Player of the Month award. He acknowledged the contribution from his teammates to win the award.
“Obviously, I’m very happy with this,” Mbeumo added. “But, as I always say, I think it’s teamwork, and a lot of players would have deserved this as well this month, so I’m happy.”
Mbeumo is looking for his first goal in November when United take on Tottenham on Saturday.
Bryan Mbeumo has the highest xA in the Premier League
Mbeumo has the highest expected assists (xA) in the Premier League this season after 11 matches.
Although he has only recorded one assist, Mbeumo’s xA stands at 2.52.
The United star is ranked ahead of Iliman Ndiaye, Bukayo Saka and Jeremy Doku with the highest xA.
Hopefully, Mbeumo can record more assists in the coming weeks because Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha will be aiming to score more goals to help the team progress and get back on a winning run.
