Bruno Fernandes wins player of the month award by one per cent vote ahead of teammate

Bruno Fernandes has won Manchester United’s player of the month award for March after winning a fan vote.

This was remarkably the first time Bruno Fernandes has won a player of the month award for Manchester United this season.

It came after he bounced back from a poor start to March, scoring three goals in five games, taking his tally to 10 for the season and 60 in his Manchester United career.

Fernandes has broken a three month streak with Marcus Rashford winning consecutive awards, and he came so close to winning a fourth.

Fernandes wins fan vote

Bruno Fernandes won the fan voting for the March award by just one per cent ahead of Marcus Rashford.

United’s official website confirmed the breakdown between the three nominees, with Lisandro Martinez in third.

• Bruno Fernandes: 40 per cent
• Marcus Rashford: 39 per cent
• Lisandro Martinez: 21 per cent

All three players have been instrumental in Manchester United’s season so far, and United hope to have all three available to take on Newcastle at the weekend as the Premier League resumes.
