Bruno Fernandes urges United teammates to avoid one thing moving forward, fans will agree with him

Bruno Fernandes has urged his Manchester United teammates to do one thing moving forward following their win over Wolves.

Once again for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, the sublime in the first half turned into the ridiculous in the second 45 with the Red Devils surrendering their two-goal lead late on.

Kobbie Mainoo’s late brilliance thankfully saved United’s blushes after Pedro Neto had drawn the game level but nevertheless, things have to change defensively.

There were a myriad of questions about United’s defending for the Wolves equaliser as, with just minutes left on the clock, for some reason, United had a host of players up for an attacking corner and were, rightly, punished.

Fernandes on what United need to do

Oftentimes, the Red Devils are involved in some of the games of the season, which can be exciting for the neutral, but is not exciting for the United fanbase as we are often on the receiving end of sloppy goals.

When the Portuguese midfielder was asked about how United can improve and control games on Sunday against West Ham United, he told the United website: “It’s about getting the balls in the right places, the players doing the right moves and we will get goals.

“But obviously I think more than that is like controlling the game better for us, avoiding the tennis matches as the manager says many times.

“Because I think it was better for them [Wolves] than it was for us, playing the tennis match, as it’s going to be on Sunday again [against West Ham] because it’s a team that plays really good football but at the same time really strong on counters too.”

United’s need for control

The draw and loss to Galatasaray were two examples of United ceding control in games as was the defeat to Copenhagen and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Despite how good the win was against Wolves, the same problems remain. For some reason, unlike last season, United just cannot see out games and will allow their opponents back in.

If they want to finish in a Champions League spot or win the FA Cup, improving this aspect of their game will be vital.
