Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United’s new captain, has been speaking about new signing Mason Mount and how important the midfielder could be for United this season.
His energy, his pressing and his desire to get involved in the final third are sure to make him a popular player for not only Erik ten Hag but also the United faithful.
‘We need players like that’
“We need that aggression and passion, we need players to be like that in games,” the United midfielder said to the Daily Mail on Mount.
“These are the kind of players that I like to play against and even more to have in my side. Now, I will do everything I can to defend him.”
Mount and Fernandes could well turn out to be a devastating partnership in midfield with both players, on their day, being able to produce consistent goal threats and create high-quality chances for their teammates.

‘He’s one of the best in the league’
Fernandes was full of praise for Mount and is expecting a lot from the Englishman this season.
“I said a couple of years ago that he is one of the best players in the Premier League,” Fernandes said. “We’re really happy to have him here, wherever he plays, as a No 10, No 8 or a winger.
“He’s really good at pressing, he has a lot of energy and he’s really good on the ball. He has goals and assists in him too. We’re expecting a lot from him but he’s aware of that.”
Mount was poor last season for the Blues but it is clear the quality that he possesses and Erik ten Hag, and indeed Bruno Fernandes, will be hoping United can get the best out of the forward.
